Claudia Arcia was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Her childhood was surrounded by tropical colors, myths and legends mixed with superstition and religion that still inspires her. Arcia's grandmother's strength played a major part in her life and work. When she passed Arcia began digging into memories collecting some of her belongings and made a family collage with pictures, prayers, objects, and drawings. She started the process of nurturing her inner child through art by finding her own symbols, archetypes, and individual path.
Arcia creates gothic otherworldly sweet and sour dolls and characters that embrace blooming and celebrate the journey of self-discovery, healing, and digging into the place where all kinds of healing, imagination, and visions live. She calls them "Muñecas Curanderas del Alma'' Shaman-Dolls-Soul Healer, and "Epíritus Lucidos" Lucid Spirits. They become symbols of freedom with different shapes of humans, snakes, flowers, and much more.
Her work has been displayed in Caracas, Vienna, Boston, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. She has had three solo shows in Boston. Recently her work was selected for the renowned "Everything But The Kitchen Sink" 2023 and 2024 group shows at La Luz De Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles. She currently resides in the United States
